Driver jobs in India: a quick guide

India moves most of its goods by road, and transport companies, fleet owners, construction firms, schools and logistics businesses are hiring drivers all year round. Transopedia brings these vacancies together in one place, so you can compare salary, route and shift before you apply — and every job is checked by our team before it is published.

Whether you drive a truck, trailer, container, tanker, bus, tempo or pickup, operate a JCB, hydra or crane, or are starting out as a khalasi (helper), use the filters above to find jobs that match your licence and experience. Closed or filled jobs are removed automatically, so the board only shows open positions.

FAQ

Questions drivers ask

How do I apply for a driver job on Transopedia?

Open any job on this page to see its full details, then tap "Apply Now" and log in with your mobile number (OTP). Your application goes straight to the employer, who can see your verified profile and call you back.

Do drivers have to pay to apply for jobs?

No. Registering, getting verified and applying for jobs is completely free for drivers. Never pay anyone who asks for money to give you a driving job.

Which driving licence do I need for truck driver jobs?

Trucks, trailers, tankers and buses need a transport (commercial) licence for the vehicle class, often called an HMV or HTV licence. Tempo and pickup jobs usually need an LMV transport licence. Tanker jobs carrying fuel or chemicals also need a hazardous goods endorsement.

Can freshers get driver jobs?

Yes. Many employers hire freshers for tempo, pickup, khalasi (helper) and local delivery roles. Choose "Freshers" in the experience filter to see jobs open to new drivers.

What is a Transopedia ID?

It is a unique ID given to drivers whose identity and licence documents have been verified. Employers trust profiles with a Transopedia ID and contact them first.

How much salary does a truck driver earn in India?

Most truck drivers earn between ₹18,000 and ₹45,000 a month. Long-route, trailer and tanker drivers with experience can earn ₹55,000 or more, plus trip allowance (bhatta). Check each job for the exact salary.

Are the jobs on this page verified?

Every job is reviewed by the Transopedia team before it goes live, and jobs are closed once they are filled or expire, so the list shows only open vacancies.

I run a transport company. How do I hire drivers?

Post your requirement on Transopedia or search verified driver profiles by vehicle type, city and route. You only pay to unlock the drivers you want to call.
